This embellished antique koi (carp) netsuke is a symbol of strength and success in Japan. Embellishing antiques was popularized in the Victorian period as a way to praise and preserve artisan crafts. It also reduces waste by preventing quality pieces from being melted into scrap. So, we love redesigning jewelry in this way! After much trial and effort spent working on this unique piece, it has also gained a personal significance to me as a symbol of Resilience. It's been a journey from this little fish that called to me 2 years ago. I'm very happy with the final piece and excited to share it with you!
